What Writing is communication through the use of letters and symbols that represents language.
Why Writing is a multifaceted skill used for many purposes including: communicating, learning, informing, persuading, entertaining, and self-reflecting.

How Students must be given the opportunity to write daily.  Instruction should include teaching students to write for different purposes using the writing process.  We must teach students to become fluent with handwriting, spelling, sentence construction, typing, and word processing.  Teachers must strive to create an engaged community of writers.

Grades K-3: Students work on foundational writing skills in connection to phonics instruction, e.g. spelling, word chains, sentence dictation.
Grades K-6: Writing happens in conjunction with Wit & Wisdom ELA instruction as students write to learn and learn to write. Students should also be writing within other content areas: science, math, and social studies.
